Shark Spotted in Open Sea off the Coast of Arraial do Cabo

This Tuesday (5th), a shark was seen calmly swimming in the clear, stunning waters of Arraial do Cabo, located in the Região dos Lagos area of Rio de Janeiro state. The footage was captured by Denis Barreto, who runs the “Arraial do Cabo 360 Graus” profile, and quickly gained attention on social media.

The animal was seen swimming alone, far from the shore, and showing no signs of aggression. The scene highlights the beauty and rich marine life of the region, which is one of Brazil’s top diving destinations.

Even though the shark posed no immediate threat, its presence serves as an important reminder: both locals and tourists should stay alert when entering the sea. If a shark is spotted near the beach, it’s essential to follow safety guidelines, respect warning signs, and avoid swimming in that area.

The presence of sharks in natural environments is a sign of ecological balance — and for us, ocean lovers, it’s a chance to reflect on the respect we owe to this incredible habitat.
