Elephant Breaks into Convenience Store for a Midnight Snack in Thailand

Residents of Pak Chong, Thailand, witnessed an unusual scene in the early hours of last Sunday (1st). A wild elephant decided to make an unexpected “visit” to a convenience store, searching for some food.

The star of this curious event is Plai Biang Lek, an elephant well known in the area. Around 3 a.m., security cameras captured the moment when the animal calmly entered the store, walking through the narrow aisles with its head nearly touching the ceiling.

While onlookers watched in surprise and awe, the elephant picked its favorite “snacks”: eggs and crispy rice crackers, which it devoured on the spot before slowly leaving the store.

Plai Biang Lek lives in Khao Yai National Park, nearby, but according to locals, it is common to see him roaming the area in search of food outside the reserve. However, this was the first time he actually entered the store.

The store owner and the community were surprised by the incident, although they were already used to seeing the elephant around. This is not the first time Plai Biang Lek has caused a stir: last year, he was caught breaking into a restaurant during the night while the owners were asleep, showing an increasingly bold behavior in seeking food beyond his natural habitat.
